If you’re a PADI Divemaster looking to further your diving career, the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the next step. The IDC consists of two components: the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. The OWSI course equips you with the knowledge and skills to teach divers at all levels, from beginner to advanced.

Throughout the course, you will refine your teaching techniques both in confined water and open water, learning how to manage and instruct students effectively. You’ll also learn how to conduct instructor-level programs, including courses for Divemasters and Assistant Instructors.

The IDC covers business management, marketing, and sales strategies, helping you promote and sell dive courses. You’ll gain a deep understanding of PADI’s standards and principles, ensuring you meet the requirements for professional diving instruction. After completing the IDC, you will be eligible to take the PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and become a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
